13 November 2007: Funkwerk increases sales and earnings by more than 25 per cent
In the third quarter of 2007, Funkwerk AG (ISIN: DE0005753149) performed significantly better in terms of overall sales and earnings than in the previous year. According to the nine-month figures presented today, quarterly sales rose by a good 25 per cent on the previous year, to 66.8 mill. Euro (2006: 53.3 mill. Euro). The result of operations (EBIT) improved to 2.3 mill. Euro (2006: 0.2 mill. Euro).

According to the final figures now available, Funkwerk AG increased its revenues in the third quarter by 25 per cent on the prior year, raising the volume from 53.3 mill. Euro to 66.8 mill. Euro. At the same time, quarterly earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of 2.3 mill. Euro proved significantly higher than in the previous year (0.2 mill. Euro).

The Funkwerk AG increased sales in the second quarter of fiscal 2007 by a good 20 per cent on the previous year, from 57.8 mill. Euro to 69.7 mill. Euro. The net earnings (EBIT) rose to 1.5 mill. Euro in the second quarter (2006: 1.1 mill. Euro). “The synergy effects from the acquisition of the former Vossloh Information Technologies, the potentials of new products and the increase in incoming orders will lead to a gradual increase in both sales and earnings in the latter half of the year. Consequently, the Executive Board is confident that we will be able to reach the targets set for 2007, even if a number of potential risks could not yet be completely eliminated“, explained Funkwerk Chair-man Dr. Hans Grundner on presentation of the interim report.

The first quarter of the 2007 financial year of Funkwerk AG (ISIN: DE0005753149) took place against a background of acquisitions and a high level of orders received. As a result, the turnover increased by 6.7 percent to 56.9 mill. Euro, compared with 53.3 mill. Euro in the previous year. The total orders received amounted to 144 mill. Euro, meaning that the previous year’s figure of 69 mill. Euro has been more than doubled. The level of orders on the reporting date at the end of March increased to 148 mill. Euro (previous year: 97 mill. Euro).

Based on preliminary figures for the last quarter of 2006, Funkwerk AG attained earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of over 8 mill. Euro. Sales of around 78 mill. Euro could be reached in 4. quarter. Thus, due to strong year-end business, the company was able to reach the target result for full year of almost 10 mill. Euro, as indicated in its latest forecast. Annual sales for 2006 remained at the lower end of the target range with appr. 242 Mio Euro.
