Changes to the Prime Standard Segment

With the end of the „New Market“, Funkwerk AG changed to the Prime Standard at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange

The Year in which Funkwerk grows in new dimensions:
Traffic & Control Communication: 5000 GSM-R terminals are delivered to European railway companies. Funkwerk now reaches more than 60 percent market share. A new major order of the Belgian Railway SNCB strengthens the leading market position. Also non European railway companies now get interest in the Funkwerk technology.

Automotives Communication:
For the first time Funkwerk sells more in the OEM business of the car industry than in the After-Sales-Market. Among other things the 1.000.000th COMPENSER® is delivered to the car industry. Funkwerk successfully starts the marketing of its new products in North America.

Enterprise Communication:
In only two years this business unit, through focused expansion, has climbed up to be a pillar for the growth of Funkwerk. For the first time Funkwerk technologies are also used on ships. The club ships of the AIDA-class are equipped with an On-Board-Data-Radio system.

Funkwerk continues growth strategy by acquisitions:


On 1 May 2003 the Enterprise Communication segment was extended further with the takeover of Bin Tec Access Networks GmbH. From now on, Funkwerk is able to present itself as a supplier of complete net solutions for enterprises. Funkwerk messaging & mobility systems are now extended with Router technology and Access systems by Bin Tec and are offered as a complete solution for IP-based company nets.


In November 2003 Funkwerk has strengthened the sector of information and security system in the business unit traffic & control communication. With the takeover of “plettac electronics security GmbH”, Funkwerk makes a big step towards becoming a market leader for professional video supervision systems in Germany.

31 December 2003:

Within the difficult economic environment, the Funkwerk business model has now proven its qualities for the third consecutive year. Turnover (178.6 mil euros) exceeded the plan by 42 percent and in comparison to the year before (108.7 mil euros) by about 64 percent. With an EBIT of 17.5 mil euros Funkwerk achieves a new record for the fourth year in a row.
