2006 - Award for lasting outstanding business achievement
February 2006: The Funkwerk AG has extended the business segment automotives communication by the area of Telematics and navigation systems. With the acquisition of the Euro Telematics, Funkwerk is now able to offer a complete package of software and hardware with suitable telematics, fleet management and navigation applications for different branches. Doing so, the existing product portfolio of Funkwerk gets access to new interesting customer groups, like vehicle fleets operators as well as companies from the avionic and space industry.
April 2006: The Funkwerk Enterprise Communication GmbH incorporates the subsidiary Funkwerk IAD GmbH to participate in the growth market of Integrated Access Devices (IADs).The locations Nürnberg and Kiel are independently developing and marketing new products in this area.
May 2006: The Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH merges with the subsidiary Funktel GmbH. Both companies had already formed up to the business of Enterprise Communication and trade from now on under the name Funkwerk Enterprise Communication GmbH (FEC).
August 2006: The Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC) has successfully secured itself the European brand rights for VoVPN® (Voice over Virtual Private Network). Now VoVPN® is legally protected in all member states of the EU. FEC owns the German brand rights in this Technology already since 2005.
September 2006: MAN Trucks are equipped with hands-free devices of Funkwerk Dabendorf. In addition to the Daimler-Chrysler Nutzfahrzeuge, DAF Trucks N.V. and IVECO, the “MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Gruppe” is already the fourth major company to utilize Dabendorf technology. Funkwerk Dabendorf now covers nearly 75% of the European OEM market for utility vehicles with its communication devices.
October 2006: The Funkwerk Enterprise Communication GmbH takes over 60 percent of the capital shares of the aphona GmbH with headquarter in Vienna. Aphona, a developer of communication devices for business and industrial applications, is an important supplier for Telekom Austria.
November 2006: The”Unternehmens-Innovationspreis 2006 der Industrie- und Handelskammer Potsdam is awarded to the Funkwerk Dabendorf GmbH for its new product line “easyfleet”. The system offers a variety of functions ranging from electronic logbook to locating vehicles and route tracking up to a professional logistics system.
December 2006: Funkwerk AG receives a big order from the car industry. An international premium manufacturer ordered the delivery of a “Multimode-Compenser” for the US market. This strategically important order has an estimated volume in the lower two-digit million and will run until 2012.
The End of the year 2006: The dynamic growth of the last years could not be continued this year. The turnover remained at last year’s level at 242 mil euros and the EBIT decreased by 41 percent to 10.1 mil euros.
