Dr. -Ing. Hans Grundner (Chairman of the Board of Management)

Dr Hans Grundner, studied electrical engineering at the University of Technology (TU) in Munich. Following his graduation as an electrical engineer in 1972, he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Circuit Theory and Signal Processing at the Munich University of Technology (TU) and received his doctorate of engineering (Dr-Ing.) there in 1975.
In 1976, Dr Grundner began working in industry as a systems engineer. He worked for Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm until 1989 and was responsible for system development and projects. During this time, Dr Grundner held various management roles, the last of which was Manager for Programmes and Sales Subsystems.
After working as a freelance corporate consultant and as manager of a branch of Mannesmann Mobilfunk, he commenced employment as Managing Director with Hörmann GmbH in 1991. In this role, Dr Grunder developed medium-sized groups and exploited new growth areas, so that sales increased dramatically within just a few years. Following a restructuring of the Hörmann Group, he became Managing Director of Hörmann Verwaltungs GmbH, Kirchseeon, in 1995.
In 1992, Dr Grundner founded Hörmann Funkwerk Kölleda GmbH, which was later to become Funkwerk AG. He floated the company on the stock exchange in 2000 and has been Chairman of the Board of Management since then.
