security communication

Personen-Notruf-Anlage

Of the 27 EDP-operated power plants in France in which personnel emergency call systems are to be implemented, 20 have already been provided with the Funkwerk DECT Secury Server DSS solution connected to an AVAYA Integral 55 communication system. Each PP has around 1000 DECT handsets, of which 30% are supplied as a Secury variant featuring all manual and automatic alarm functions. 70% of the terminals are suitable for messaging services and evacuation measures. The rollout for the 23 locations began in 2004. Another 4 plants are due for equipment by the end of 2010.

INEOS

As part of the BP group of companies, INEOS in Cologne is a raw material supplier in the petrochemical sector with some 2000 employees at its Köln-Worringen location. The entire factory must comply with the most stringent security requirements and has extensive gas explosion protection zones. The company requested the replacement of its existing Siemens DECT system with a modern cordless communication system, also based on the DECT standard, with 330 radio base stations and around 1500 explosion-proof DECT handsets. The contract further involved rate billing systems, alarm servers and system redundancies.

Hamburger Hochbahn

The video system of Hamburger Hochbahn AG primarily consists of a digital video cross bar, the video management system p.o.s.a. and ten workstations with control and display units. The workstations are at different locations in the Hamburg conurbation. The analogue camera signals are digitalised via LWL, telecommunication or coaxial cables via the video inputs of Funkwerk’s proprietary VNS series video encoder. The video data transmission between the decoders and encoders is handled as a MPEG 4 ASP data stream, which is transmitted via a network designed for this purpose (LWL, CAT5).

The digital video images are available to the dispatchers of the bus control centre on the digital display units and on a monitor wall (projection system) for connection, control and management. Plan involve the use of these video images jointly with the traffic control centre of the police, in compliance with the data protection requirements. The system can be extended at any time to include IP cameras and other components in the video over IP field.

VAG-Nürnberg

Funkwerk contributes significantly and quite obviously to the safety and security of passengers using the fully automatic underground trains in Nuremberg, which are operated as part of a mixed service along with conventional trains. Using digital video monitoring, the Service Control Centre is able at all times to monitor the current situation of the passengers and from it, deduce potential action consequences.

The cameras in the stations and monitoring the platforms ensure that passengers are as safe around the new automatic trains as before. In case of emergencies, a prompt assessment of the situation is particularly crucial for initiating appropriate measures, directing helpers to the right place and keeping uninvolved passengers safe.

The video cameras and emergency telephones thus are directly connected with the control centre.

Punctual trains and the resulting satisfaction among passengers are ensured by supporting the operations of the VAG and analysing peak times. Visual information on passenger flow and passenger volume provide information for short frequencies of up to 100 seconds between two trains.

Algerien

Thanks to major projects in Algeria, Funkwerk has gained a good reputation as a supplier of security systems. The core of these systems is a combination of access control incl. number plate identification and video monitoring.

Integrating these security solutions into a management system makes it possible to monitor even large areas spanning several kilometres in length from a central location using several hundreds of cameras with IR light and pan/tilt head cameras. The transmission of pictures in real time via video over IP and classic technology, monitoring of the torches (for a controlled burning of the gases) with a combustion chamber probe and explosion-proof cameras as well as integrated alarm management allow immediate and appropriate action to be taken in any given situation. This helps identify and prevent potential risk situations or process disruptions early on and thus increase the safety and security of man and technology.
