Qualification and Commitment

Highly qualified and committed employees are a decisive success factor for the Funkwerk technology development company. This is reflected in the exceptionally high qualifications of its staff: 43% of all Funkwerk employees have a university degree, while 45% have completed vocational training.


Kerstin Schreiber

Kerstin Schreiber has joined the Executive Board of Funkwerk AG in May 2013.


Having trained in tax, Kerstin Schreiber subsequently completed a course in business management.
She has been with Funkwerk AG for the past 15 years and in this time has been actively involved in process control throughout the group.

For many years, she has been an asset to the management particularly at the company’s Kölleda site.




Dr. Andreas J. Schmid

Dr. Andreas J. Schmid was appointed full member of the Executive Board of Funkwerk AG on August 1, 2018.

Dr. Andreas J. Schmid (50) studied physics at the TU of Munich and earned his doctorate in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the TU Darmstadt. In his past professional career in industry he was active in various executive positions, including Siemens AG, Festo AG and the FCT Group. He spent the last five years as Managing Director of Schaltbau GmbH, Munich, having been responsible for the division of components and systems for traffic engineering.

Dr. Andreas J. Schmid will represent Funkwerk AG as a technologically and in rail industry internationally experienced executive in the future together with Kerstin Schreiber.

At December 31, 2018, the Funkwerk group employed in the business areas total 426 employees (including trainees).

Training for team identification and embossing the brand Funkwerk contribute to efficiency gains.

Funkwerk runs in-house training programs and a program leading to an executive qualification. Funkwerk is also extremely committed to professional training. Plenty of trainees were prepared at the various sites on a commercial, industrial or information technology professional.


In order to secure the technological lead of Funkwerk, about 1/3 of the employees at the various locations in the research and development departments are active.
