A Cab Radio consists of one or two operating devices (HMI), Handset equipment and radio units including antenna. The operating device (HMI) in the cabin of the locomotive is used to control the train radio unit. All system components are designed for the use in a railways environment and fulfill all needed specifications. The optimal display size and the logical layout of all function buttons enable an easy menu-driven use of digital and analogue train radio while driving. The handset equipment enables the driver to perform multiple communication tasks. Funkwerk offers different train radio systems (MESA), which differ in design and functionality, depending on customer requirements. The modular MESA family includes single-, dual- and multi-mode device of our type series MESA 23, 24, 25 and 26.
In the download area on the right side you will find an approval and certification overview of our train radio systems.
The new Generation of Cab Radio was developed based on the successfully integrated and reliable MESA type.
The MESA 25 is a mobile train radio system for voice and data transmission, which is for rail internal communication between fixed and mobile participants or between mobile participants. The system fulfils the requirements for use in rail vehicles and is based on the specification TSI ZZS.
The Train Radio Systems MESA 24 were developed by order of the Belgian Railways SNCB.
The special requirements from the customers for the mechanical and functional characteristics resulted in 3 variants of the central unit.
The universal system architecture of MESA 23, which is based on the specifications of TSI ZZS, contains uniform and standardised interfaces and sub-assemblies, which are conceived as 19" plug-in printed circuit boards.
