Voice radio and data transmission via 4G-cab radio

Over ten years ago, the train radio system was converted to the digital GSM-R system. GSM-R is used for communication between rail operators and train drivers. In order to provide services and offers to passengers, we developed a 4G-based cab-radio based on our many years of experience as a market leader in the GSM-R train radio communication system segment, which can be installed in the vehicle as an all-in-one device.

The CRLT.20 enables the migration of radio communication and data transmission in railway and public transportation areas from analogue train radio (in operation since the 1970s) to LTE technology. The customer is thereby in a position to benefit from the advantages of the rapid developments: In addition to classic speech communication, railway operations can also perform broadband data applications (e.g. video images of train platform and doors) on the radio device.

Our all-in-one CLRT.20 was developed for speech communication and transfer of data between vehicles. It thereby satisfies relevant railway standards, such as EN 50128 or EN 50155. CLRT.20 executes 2G/3G/4G telephone service functions (incl. VoLTE) and IP-based data services using commercial mobile networks. CLRT.20 only requires a standard SIM-card for this purpose.

In addition, our 4G-based cab-radio is designed in such a way that future 4G releases are also supported. Upcoming services, like MCPTT (Mission Critical Push To Talk) and group call are also prepared. In addition, the installation of third party applications is also possible. Furthermore, our cab-radio can be seamlessly integrated into existing or new infrastructure if the applications are Android based. A range of accessories, such as hand-held apparatus and external antennae, are also available.
