Funkwerk, a German manufacturer of high-end security equipment, completed the modernization of the video surveillance system in the Unterweser Nuclear Power Plant at the end of 2011. A modular video server system based on a digital network was installed for this long-established customer. All digital components were installed on a redundant basis.
Norbert Meißner, manager director of Funkwerk video systeme GmbH, said, “The extensive modernization in the Unterweser Nuclear Power Plant took almost three years.” He continued, “Our digital concept for the network technology and the redundancy of the digital components were crucial factors in our being awarded this challenging project.”
Future-proof system protected against manipulation
The video management system p.o.s.a. is the heart of the video system. (plettac open security architecture). This proven, in-house development by Funkwerk provides complete control and monitoring of the video system. The advantages of the management system include the export of recordings that are admissible as evidence in court, and enhanced protection against manipulation. It bundles in real-time the video signals from fixed and pan/tilt cameras. The future-proof structure also allows subsequent expansion. The visualization in the operations control center takes place on multiple operator workstations, including 56″ large format TFT monitors.
